About This Route
The Watkin Path is widely considered the most demanding of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. Starting near Nant Gwynant at almost sea level, it offers the greatest elevation gain of any path. The journey begins with a scenic climb through lush ancient woodland and past spectacular waterfalls before the terrain turns unforgiving. It culminates in a notorious, tough scree climb on the final approach, requiring careful footwork and high levels of fitness.
